By default, the Map View of Washington DC is shown at startup. To show your current location, switch to Location View by tapping [Current location]. Adding POI on a certain map position To adding POI to a selected map point tap and hold over the desired position of map and select [Add POI]. Tap to POI marker (make sure that POI layer is visible) to view or edit it. Info box By default the Info boxes (transparent data fields in the header) show the coordinates of the crosshair/arrowhead in the middle of the screen. (You can change the information shown by scolling the header right to left). Compass on map Small compass in the heades helps you to check your orientation. While you are navigating along a route the orange arrow shows the right direction to keep you the route. Map Buttons Slide your finger to pan the map. Tap [+] or [–] to zoom in or out. Alternatively, use the phone’s multi touch functionality: drag your fingers apart to zoom in, pull them together to zoom out. Map Type Tap [Map Type] to change the type and source of map data to be displayed. Switch between Bing Street Map / Satellite Map / OpenStreetMap / OpenCycleMap. Search on Map Tap [Search] to show/hide the search box. Tap into the textbox and type Place or POI name then press Enter or [OK] button. If online search engine could get result, map will be centered to the location of place/poi. Map Options You can plan your own route by drawing the path over the map manually. Tap [Draw Route] and start drawing. You can also store manually planned routes by [Save Route] option. To measure distances, tap [Measure] and draw a freehand path on the map. The length of the path is shown in the header. Tap [Capture] to take a picture using the phone’s built-in camera application. A new POI is then created in your current location and the image is stored as an attachment to it. Select [Map Layers] to display or hide Route, POIs, Tracks, Photos on the map. Tap [Routing Settings] to select the server side routing engine. To stop navigating on a route, please press [Stop Navigation] button. Tracks are paths showing the actual route you covered, based on your GPS positions recoded at regular intervals. The button turns red and the orange arrowhead leaves a red tail on the map while recording. You can set track logging to automatic in >Track Settings. Tap [Pause] to pause recording, then tap [Pause] again to resume. Tap [Stop] to stop recording and save the track in memory. Please note that you need at least two recorded positions to save a track. In the list you can select and manage a previously saved Track. Double tap a Track in the list or select one then press [Details] button to open the Track Details screen in which you can check or modify the name and icon with the selected Track. You can also see all the >Trip Computer data (e.g. length, time, max. speed, etc.) relating to the selected track. On Track Details screen you can: Tap and hold the Name field to modify the name of the Track. Tap and hold the Icon field to modify the icon of the Track. When ready, tap [OK]. Tap [Delete] to delete the selected Track from your phone (further confirmation is required). POIs Locations regularly used as starting and end points for route planning can be stored as POI (Points of interest) in your phone’s memory. See >Map on how to save a POI. In the list you can select and manage a previously saved POI. Double tap a POI in the list or select one then press [Details] button to open the POI Details screen in which you can check or modify the description of and any photo stored with the selected POI. On POI Details screen you can: Tap and hold the Name field to modify the name of the POI. Tap and hold the Icon field to modify the icon of the POI. Tap and hold the Description field to add more information to the POI. Tap [Photo] to view or add photo to POI. Tap [Change Photo] to change or retake photo. Tap [Delete Photo] to remove image assignment for POI. Tap [Map] to view POI on Map. Tap [Coordinate] to view POI’s coordinate. To change coordinate of a POI tap and hold over a data field and enter its new value. When ready, tap [OK]. Tap [Delete] to delete the selected POI from your phone (further confirmation is required). Route Routes are previously saved route plans between two points shown as a path on the map. Stored routes are available when your phone is off-line. In the list you can select and manage a previously saved Route or the actual (unsaved) Route. Double tap a Route in the list or select one then press [Details] button to open the Route Details screen in which you can check or modify the description or name of the selected Route. On Route Details screen you can: Tap and hold the Name field to modify the name of the Route. Tap and hold the Description field to add more information to the Route. When ready, tap [OK]. Tap [Delete] to delete the selected Route from your phone (further confirmation is required). Share On Share tab of Trip Manager you can export your track(s) or POI(s) as a .kml, .kmz file via email. You should first select track(s) and POI(s) from the list then enter an e-mail address then press the send button. Outdoor Navigation software will pack selected data into a .kmz file and send it. Dropbox By selecting Dropbox from Share tab you can use file export/import functions with your Dropbox account. First you should create a Dropbox account at http://www.dropbox.com site and login with your e-mail and password in Outdoor Navigation. You can use one of the four functions: Backup Creates a full backup from your tracks, pois, routes and settings into a backup file and uploads it to your Dropbox (in OutdoorNavigationWP7 folder) Restore Restores tracks, pois, routes and settings from a backup file. Please note that current data will be replaced with restored one. Export Creates KML or GPX file from your tracks, pois, routes and and uploads it to your Dropbox (in OutdoorNavigationWP7 folder) Import Imports tracks, poi or route data from KML, GPX or LOC file. You can download Geocaching LOC files from http://www.geocaching.com site then copy it into OutdoorNavigationWP7 folder, so Outdoor Navigation can open it. System Settings You can set the method of distance calculation (default: Auto) and if Outdoor Navigation would run even if you had locked your device. Unit Settings Select the units used for measuring data, such as speed, distance or altitude. Track Settings Track settings define the way how often new points are recorded in your track log, and therefore directly affect the size of your track log files. Set Auto Start to ON to start track logging automatically at launch. Use the ‘Configure Recoding Parameters’ settings to reduce the number of points in your track log. Min Angle – the track logger continuously measures your deviation from the straight line between the last two recorded points in the track log. Unless in your current position the angle of deviation is greater than the Min Angle setting, the current position will not be recorded in the track log. Min Distance – the track logger continuously measures your distance from the last recorded point in the track log. Unless in your current position your distance is greater than the Min Distance setting, the current position will not be recorded in the track log. Max Distance – the track logger continuously measures your distance from the last recorded point in the track log. If in your current position your distance is greater than the Max Distance setting, the current position will automatically be recorded in the track log, irrespective of any other Track settings. Max Time – the track logger continuously measures the time elapsed since the last point was recorded in the track log. If in your current position the elapsed time is greater than the Max Time setting, the current position will automatically be recorded in the track log, irrespective of any other Track settings. SOS Settings Add your data for your predefined emergency messages here. Enter the Email Address and Phone Number of the person to whom the emergency message should be sent. Enter Your Name and Your Phone Number as well. Routing Settings You can select the server side routing engine (same as in Map Options). Reset Tap [Reset] to change all customizable settings to the factory default values. A confirmation dialog box appears. Tap Yes to continue – please note that all your customized settings will be lost. Tap No to keep your current settings.
